Quality underwear is important at the best of times, but when temperatures suddenly shoot up and the air turns humid, a pair of soft, supportive and moisture-wicking briefs becomes essential.

Samsung Galaxy Ring

Cue the Tolkien puns. We’ve had smart watches and it’s now time for smart rings. Samsung’s latest wearable tech is for fingers, providing a discreet and stylish way to measure sleep, activity, workouts and heart rate.

Available in titanium black, gold and silver, a durable titanium casing keeps the insides protected, with 100m water resistance and corrosion resistant properties.

The ring will seamlessly connect with the rest of the Galaxy ecosystem and offers intuitive controls. You can turn your alarm off with a pinch and take a picture with the gesture of a hand, for example.

NN07 Summer Linen

There’s still time to dress for a summer that has been cruelly teased between persistent showers. And the best way to combat rising temperatures is linen.

Scandinavian brand NN07 has crafted a superb linen line for summer ’24 that spans shirting, trousers and handsome overshirts. This complements a broader collection that is friendly to men looking to dabble in wider fits.

Sing Sing

Two big films are coming out this month from indie cinema powerhouse A24. I Saw The TV Glow is set to be a cult classic, a creepy cinephile-friendly horror about two friends who bond over a fictional TV show.

The other, Sing Sing, is the one we’re most excited about. Oscar nominee Colman Domingo (Rustin) leads an ensemble cast in an inspiring, feel-good story about a group of men thriving in a prison acting programme.

Directed by Greg Kwedar, the film is a cinematic call to action for prison reform.

Uber Yacht

It was only a matter of time. Uber Yacht is here. Granted, it’s not taking you for a last-minute night out in Liverpool from Birkenhead, but it gives you a chance to experience Ibiza like never before.

Starting in August, Uber Yacht will offer groups of 8 the chance to book a private yacht experience through the app. The yacht departs Ibiza Town Marina each day at midday.

For £1,600, groups of eight can enjoy the stylish floating confines of a luxurious Sunseeker Yacht, doing a full lap of the island. The eight-hour trip includes a personal skipper, a complimentary bottle of champagne and fancy snacks.

The Bentley Record Room @ Co-op Live Arena

After a few initial hiccups, Manchester’s Co-op Live Arena, the largest capacity indoor arena in Europe, is up and running. For the rest of the year, it will host a packed slate of music, combat sports and entertainment.

Apart from its capacity and impressive eco-credentials, the arena’s lounge access sets it apart. The Bentley Record Room is the top of the pile, an intimate VIP access member’s club designed by the Bentley Motors Design Team.

With a 100-person capacity and a tantalising proximity to the performer’s Green Room, performers have been known to pop in for a drink afterwards.

Petite Porte Noire Grand Cru Champagne

Of course, there are bad ones, but of late, we’ve been on a decent run of celebrity-endorsed alcohol – and the latest to grab our attention is Porte Noire.

A collaboration between David Farber, owner and director of Connaught Wine Cellars, and actor, director, DJ and all-round creative behemoth Idris Elba, Porte Noire does a nice line in champagne.

For entry-level, Petite Porte Noire Grand Cru is a non-vintage champagne with depth. Its palate has fresh aromas of citrus and apple, followed by a slightly saline finish.

The 2013 Grand Cru vintage, meanwhile, is elegant and buttery, with great tension and a long green apple finish. Both are worth seeking out.

The airport lounge has been reimagined with the opening of Aether at Manchester Airport, a private terminal akin to a Scandinavian design hotel, bringing a seamless travel experience from door to cabin door.

Designed to be a private terminal experience, Aether includes a meet-and-greet parking service, a private host greeting, stylish seating areas with views of the runway and a la carte dining options from celebrated chef Adam Reid.

With staff sorting your luggage and boarding for you, the space provides a calming escape from the main terminal before a private chauffeur delivers you to the cabin door. Bookings are now open from 4 November.

Osprey Archeon Series

We’ve been searching for a waterproof backpack recently that needs to fulfil a particular set of needs. Water resistance is the main criterion to protect tech on the work commute, but there must also be pleasing aesthetics, ample organisation and, most importantly, comfort.

The Osprey Archeon, with its modular customisation potential, fits this bill. Testing the luggage range’s state-of-the-art carbonate-coated nylon was almost obsessive, but Osprey is confident the bags can take a beating while keeping tech safe and dry.

Meanwhile, internal organisation keeps laptops, tablets, cables and the like in place, with extra room in the main hold. This is a solid choice for facing unpredictable weather on the commute that’s kind to tired shoulders.
